Frequently Asked Questions

I've had a couple of consistent questions asked about the Policy Analyzer.  Here are those questions and the answer to them.

Reports

Q.  Can I run a source of business report showing who the referrer is?

A.  This question was asked because in InStar you can only run a source of business report at the policy level, yet it's at the client level where you put in "referred by".  The answer to this question is absolutely yes, you can run this kind report in the Policy Analyzer.

Q.  Can we use this to run accounting reports?

A.  No.  At this time it only pulls client records and policy header information over.  I am entertaining the idea of working with accounting information, specifically information from the invoice, but I would need enough agencies who would want this to constitute the time it would take to add.  This would also be an add-on for an additional fee, if this feature gets added.

Q.  Do you have a list of the reports it can run?

A.  The design of the program is for you to design your own reports.  With a very flexible selection process and sorting order, once you determine the parameters for the reports you want you just save those parameters so you can use that user defined report anytime you want.  However, we do also have some hard coded reports.  Click here a page that shows the differences between InStar's reports and the Policy Analyzer.

Q.  Can you customize your own reports?

A.  Absolutely!  This was a key design to the program.  I know when I owned my agency I had key reports I ran.  In talking to other agency owners they have key reports they run.  Who am I to dictate the reports?  Therefore, I've given you total control (almost) over the reporting ability.

Reviewing the Program

Q.  How can I review this program?

A.  You have two ways to review the Policy Analyzer ...

1.  A Video Overview.  I created a video overview that walks you right threw the system.  You'll see how easy the program is to use and how much flexibility you have to create reports.

2.  A Webinar via GoToMeeting.  With the use of a Webinar program, I will share my computer with you and show you step by step what this program can do.

Plus, you can purchase a 30 day trial program for $75.  This allows you to install the program on your computer and run reports and analyze your own book of business.  All current add-on modules are included for the 30 days.

Q.  Why do you have a 30 day program?

A.  The Policy Analyzer is a pretty straight forward program.  It's an advanced reporting program that allows you to analyze your data with 2 additional tools to help you be more productive ... the E-Mail Manager (add-on) and MS Word Integrator (add-on).

The Policy Analyzer is not an expensive program.  The $75 fee for the 30 day program separates those agencies who just want a one time review of their data (or better stated, 30 days of analysis') from those agencies who want to stay on top of their book of business weekly or monthly, or who need the ongoing power and flexibility of the E-Mail Manager and/or MS Word Integrator.

Between the video overview and the Webinar where I can show you the live Policy Analyzer system on my computer, you will quickly see how easy this program is to use and what it's capable of providing you in the way of information about your book of business and should offer more than enough information to help you make a decision on this program.

If you want to analyze your data for just 30 days or feel the need to want to "test-drive" it before purchasing it, you'll purchase the 30 Day Program for $75.  If you choose to upgrade to the unlimited use program, the $75 is applied toward training.

System and New User Questions

Q.  How long does it take to pull in my data from InStar?

A.  In testing the program on a datafile with 3500 clients and 5600 policies, from start to finish doing the first imports it took 10 minutes.  We just recently installed the system into an agency that has 51,395 clients and 69,590 policies.  It took 35 minutes from start to finish for them.

Q.  We have multiple segments with InStar.  Will that be a problem?

A.  That's not a problem at all.  Our largest user has 25 segments and it pulls in the data just fine.

Q.  Once we purchase the Policy Analyzer, what's the process to get it up and running?

A.  There's a linking process we have to initiate on your computer.  We'll be installing an ODBC driver on your computer to access your InStar data.  Plus, if you're a multi-user we'll need to help you install the shortcut to the program for the users.

It takes less than 30 minutes to get the program up and running on your computers, but it does require support to help you with the install.

Price

Q.  What's the price for the Policy Analyzer?

A.  The prices are listed at the order form.  Just click on one of the "Click Here to Order" buttons.  When you consider it took a year to write this program and consider everything this program can do, we priced the system at the absolutely lowest price we could, which many have said it's a lot lower than they expected.

Q.  We have 6 users with our management system.  Does that mean I need to purchase a 6 user license for the Policy Analyzer?

A.  The number of users you have with your management system has absolutely nothing to do with how many users you should purchase with the Policy Analyzer.  The number of users you purchase for the Policy Analyzer simply determines how many people can use the Policy Analyzer at the same time.  If you have 6 users with your management system but you want 4 or even 8 people to use the Policy Analyzer, that's the number of users you'd purchase ... 4-5 for 4 users or 6-10 users for 8 people.

Q.  Are there any ongoing support fees?

A.  Absolutely none!

Q.  Is there a fee for upgrades and/or enhancements?

A.  Yes and no.  We will have basic upgrades that will fix bugs or add additional basic functionality to this system at no cost.  In addition, part of the design of the program is the ability to offer you additional automation tools and features your current agency management system doesn't offer.  If you want to take advantage of a new feature you'll purchase it.  Those you don't want or need you don't purchase.  That way you're getting the exact tools and features you want to meet the individual needs and direction of your agency.
